G.O. (P) No. 20/2001/SWD. Dated, Thiruvananthapuram, 25th August, 2001 S.R.O. No. 839/2001 - In exercise of the powers conferred by section 28 of the Kerala Women's Commission Act, 1990 (Act 17 of 1995) read with sub-section (5) of section 9 thereof, the Government of Kerala hereby make the following rules namely:-
Rules
1.Short title and Commencement - These rules may be called the Kerala Women's Commission (Remuneration payable to Members and Experts of Ad-hoc Committee) Rules, 2001 2. They shall come into force at once. 2. Definitions - In these, unless the context otherwise requires- (a) Act means the Kerala Women's Commission Act, 1990 (Act 17 of 1995). (b) "Ad-hoc Committee" means an Ad-hoc Committee constituted under subsection (1) of section 9 of the Act.
3. Remuneration - Every member and every expert of an Ad-hoc Committee, if he is not in service of the Central or State Government or in an institution funded by the Central or State Government, shall be paid a remuneration of Rs. 500 (Rupees five hundred only) for attendance of each day of the meeting of the Ad-hoc Committee subject to a maximum of RS 1500 (Rupees one thousand and five hundred only) per month.
4. Travelling and Daily Allowance - Every member and expert, if he is not in service of the Central or State Government or in an institution funded by the Central or State Government attending a meeting of the Ad-hoc Committee shall be paid, in addition to the remuneration payable under rule 3 travelling allowance and daily allowance at the rates admissible to Class I Officers of the State Government under the rules and orders issued by the State Government from time to time.

Explanatory Note
(This does not form part of the Notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.) Subsection (1) of section 9 of the Kerala Women's Commission Act, 1990 empowers the Kerala Women's Commission to constitute Ad-hoc Committee for the purpose of transacting any business before it, or any special issue. The said sub -section further stipulates that such Ad-hoc Committee shall consist of not more than two members of the commission and not more than two experts on the particular subject before the commission. Sub -section (5) of section 9 thereof provides that the persons in the Ad-hoc Committee shall be paid such remuneration as may be prescribed by rules made by Government. Government have decided to make rules under section 28 of the Act for payment of remuneration to members and experts of Ad-hoc Committee.
This notification is intended to achieve the above object.
